Akron Children's Hospital

Hey everyone, this is JoEllen. Marcia asked me if I'd be willing to post on her blog today. Some of you may already know this, but for those who do not know, Marcia was admitted to Akron Children's Hospital (in the Adult Cystic Fibrosis wing) a few days ago. She has not been feeling well for the past couple of months and with the help of her docs she has been trying different things to help her get feeling more like herself. During her doc appointment on Tuesday, they decided it would be smart to admit her so that they could monitor her daily. We are not sure how long she will be there, but she will be there for at least one week. It has been an exhausting few days, lots of tests, scans, blood work, picc line (lots of trouble getting it placed).

Medical jargon:
-Today she started Pulmonary Rehab.
-Her kidneys are only functioning at 40%, so the medical staff are being very careful with the Ivs.
-Lung function is 36% FEV1 and .88L, so she has been short of breath.
-o2 sats aren't bad, her body just has to work hard!

Prayer Request:
Pray for her kidney function to improve as well as lung function. Pray for peace and rest.

We all love Marcia to pieces! Together, let's pray her through this icky time.

Thanks,
JoEllen

Hi Marcia! I just wanted you to know I'm praying for you :) I know the days are long, but soon Spring will be here and you'll be enjoying your beautiful gardens. I really enjoyed the grand tour you gave me this past summer. I also enjoyed your article in the church newsletter on how you milked a goat! Haha! Hang in there...you'll get out of there soon! Love you, Jo

Oh Marcia, I know that you'd rather be home preparing for Spring planting and mixing up another batch of cookies. Praying for you, and Warren. Much love, Brenda and Barry

Hey Marcia,
You might have been able to shovel some snow or get some great pics or help your grandkids make a snowman this morning! Great packing stuff and AWESOME to see! Wishing you were home to enjoy it, but praying the Dr.'s can find some answers with you breathing down there necks every day!
Love and hugs,
Stacey

Marcia,
The snow was beautiful this morning hanging on the trees so heavy and white. I do wish that all will go well for you in the next few days and that you'll be able to come home again to find that spring is trying to emerge in the garden beds. Do you have daffodils coming up yet?

I'll be off to Africa in a few days, am sooooo looking forward to this trip----when I return I'll be sure to come by and see you and bring you something sweet to try. Keep up your spirits and may your energy return. Love you Carolyn P.

Thank you so much for posting this, JoEllen. I saw just a post title in my follow list that said "set back" but when I clicked, there was no post - - - so I'd been wondering.

CF is just a mean disease.

Marcia - - - thinking of you and praying for you. You are missed.

Hey Marcia. I know this must be a real pain in the rear dealing with lung issues day after day, but I just want to say that you truly handle it with grace; the positive attitude that you maintain is inspirational to everyone that is privileged to know you. I hope that tomorrow treats you better than today has and that you will be back home with the quickness of the Lord's blessing, enjoying all that God gives to those that trust in Him. Be strong in the Lord!

Our FEV1 are pretty similar, but the kidney function??? Not so good and I hope it improves. How do you like Pulm Rehab? I just started back up and really enjoy it. Have to push myself and in the middle of it I'm so exhausted, but it's worth it.

Hope you're improved soon, Marcia!

Marcia-

You don't know me (Keetha is a blogging friend I "met" a few years ago, and Sheila G is my SIL), but I just wanted to say I am thinking of you and praying for you. We have been in the hospital far too much lately with our daughter...so I know the hospital is NOT a fun or relaxing place to be. Hoping you get some rest. :)
